Chidiya Tapu
Travel to southern most part of South Andaman for corals and marine life .Therein lies Chidiya Tapu or the Bird Rock. It boasts of an enchanting beach, green hills and a narrow creek shaded by mangrove trees. The beauty of the place is enhanced by the frolic of fishes in the shallow waters studded with corals, the gaily coloured birds perched on trees and the colourful butterflies flying around. The sunset is also a lovely spectacle at Chidiya Tapu, which makes an ideal picnic spot. 17 km away in Burmah Wala where skilled elephants are employed to carry heavy weights and tourists can watch the animals at work. It is 30 km from Port Blair. Buses and taxis ply here, making the journey in 1 hr. You can stay at the Forest Rest House atop a hillock.

Travelling to Wandoor Beach involves a trip 30 km from Port Blair, to the west of South Andaman and 1 hr journey, the tourists flock to this holiday spot from the city lured by its crystal-clear water with multicoloured corals and various marine flora and fauna. From Wandoor, it is an hour's journey by boat (everyday at 10-00 except Mondays) through the narrow creek surrounded by mangrove forest to the marine sanctuary. The boats have glass below through which you can see the corals and marine fauna and flora at the Jolly Buoy beach. On the way there are evergreen Jhir-katang forests where the Jaroas live.
